Deep tissue Massage
“You Ignore me now, but you’ll need me later”
– Your Body
Being in chronic pain or having any strain or muscle tension can affect the quality of someone’s life.
Is working behind the computer becoming a “pain in the neck”? Is heavy lifting causing your shoulder and back to retain tension? Or is sitting down at your job giving you a “dead butt”?
Deep tissue massage aims to reach the deeper layer of muscles, helping release the tension and breaking up adhesions in the muscle fibres and connective tissue. Deep tissue massage helps to manage your pain, improve stiffness and increase your range of motion.
Relax and soften your muscles
Many people do not realise that relaxation is one of the benefits of deep tissue massage, helping the muscles soften. Softened muscles help the therapist reach the deeper layers without causing discomfort.
Deep tissue massage is usually associated with extreme pressure. Most people describe a good pain(if you feel it, you will know it) over the tension areas. It should NEVER be severe pain.
With communication both at the beginning of your appointment and during your massage, we will work out what level of pressure is best suited to you.

“One thing you can’t hide is when you’re crippled inside.”
– John Lennon
In our daily routine, we are, without realising it, putting stress on our bodies. Using our phones, clicking on the mouse at our computers, driving long distances, or even carrying our babies around, can cause tension in our upper body.
A neck, back, and shoulder massage is a 45-minute treatment that targets and focuses on the upper body. With techniques taken from a deep tissue massage, this massage uses a mix of trigger point therapy to help break up adhesions. The neck, back, and shoulder muscles are warmed, loosened and deeply massaged to release any tension you are holding. We can also massage your head and face with the same techniques.
A neck, back and shoulder massage can relieve tension headaches, loosen up tight shoulders and help relieve pain in the neck and back.

“There is nothing like a prenatal massage to rub away the pains and strains that come with pregnancy.”
Prenatal massage can address many different issues depending on the needs of the Mama. It is a safe way for expecting mothers to relax, improve their sleep, reduce aches and pains, lessen their anxiety, and improve blood flow in the body.
Whether you just want to be pampered or have a combination or relaxation and pain relief the pressure will be adjusted to your needs
While it’s true that there are some areas such as legs and inner thighs that should avoid deep massage, expectant mothers can benefit greatly from a deep tissue massage on their back and shoulders.
Despite the myths you may have heard, there is no magic eject button that will accidentilly disrupt your pregnancy.
At De Massage Artiest we do wait though until 12 weeks before giving a prenatal massage. This is because it may trigger dizziness adding to morning sickness
At De Massage Artiest we have a special prenatal table with a supported hollow to accommodate your growing tummy. Many mamas have commented on how good it feels to be able to lay on their front again.
A prenatal massage usually lasts one hour.

“Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.”
– Chinese proverb
Life can be so overwhelming. Work, bills, relationships and taking care of your kids can all take their toll on you and your body. Modern-day life can be both physically and emotionally exhausting. Stress can cause so much tension in the muscles, leading to physical pain in the body, such as headaches, shoulder pain or lower back pain.
Swedish massage is the ultimate de-stressor, where the focus is on relaxation and overall wellbeing. It uses a softer and non-aggressive approach that is wonderfully stress-relieving and therapeutic.
Did you know that relaxation massage helps reduce anxiety by releasing “feel-good” hormones? The floating in the air that you feel after the massage? You can thank these happy hormones for that. Giving yourself time to relax and putting yourself first is both important and necessary. Selfcare is not selfish but is helping you become the best version of yourself.
If you are suffering from stress or tension overload, then this is the massage to book.
”Be enough for yourself first, the rest of the world can wait.”
